At Cherith of Life, we want you to know exactly what we believe and why, no guessing, no fine print. Here’s the heart of it, in plain language.

The Gospel

The world isn’t as it should be, and none of us are exempt from that brokenness. Scripture calls it sin — choosing our own way over God’s — and the end is death (Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23).

But God didn’t leave us there. Out of love, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to take the punishment for our sin, death, and to conquer death by rising from the grave (Romans 5:8). When we turn from our sin and put our trust in what Jesus has done, we’re not just forgiven — we’re set free to live the life God designed us for (Titus 2:11-14).

And once rescued, God doesn’t pull us out of the world. He sends us back into it, to share this same good news with others (Acts 1:8).

Who God Is: The Trinity

We believe in one God who exists eternally in three persons — the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each is fully God, and each is distinct. This truth is bigger than we can fully wrap our minds around, but it shapes everything else we believe: it was the Father who sent the Son, the Son who died and rose for our salvation, and the Holy Spirit who now lives in every believer.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead, fully God, and a gift to every believer. We receive Him the moment we believe — not later, not through a separate step (Ephesians 1:13-14). We’re also called to be continually filled with the Spirit, allowing Him increasing control over our everyday lives (Ephesians 5:18).

Assurance of Salvation

Because Jesus secures our salvation through His finished work, we can have real confidence, not wishful thinking, in our eternal life (1 John 5:11-13). We didn’t earn it, and we can’t lose it (John 10:28-29; Romans 8:38-39).

The Bible

The Bible is God’s Word — inspired, without error, and the final authority for our lives, beliefs, and practice. It’s made up of 66 books across the Old and New Testaments, telling one connected story of God’s redemption.

Baptism & the Lord’s Supper

Christ gave His church two ordinances:

• Baptism — the first step of obedience after trusting Christ, publicly picturing our death to the old self and new life in Him.
• The Lord’s Supper — an ongoing remembrance that strengthens and renews our union with Christ.

The Church

The local church is a defined body of baptized believers committed to one another around the gospel. A plurality of qualified elders (pastors) leads and shepherds the congregation, supported by deacons, deaconesses, and the whole congregation, which shares in key decisions like affirming members and leaders.
